Lyle L. Lowry

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Lyle L. Lowry, 86, peacefully went to be with his Lord, February 23, 2012.

Lyle was born in Wilmore, KY, November 17, 1925. He was the son of the late, James and Ruby Lowry.

Lyle graduated from the University of Kentucky with his Bachelors Degree, and pursued further education at the University of West Virginia, earning his Master’s Degree in Chemistry.

He served in the US Army during WW II, and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

Lyle taught high school in Kentucky and Florida. In 1964, he began teaching Chemistry as an Associate Professor at Brevard Community College, retiring after 27 years. Lyle’s passion for teaching was fueled by his enjoyment of his students, desiring to help each one reach their goals.

Lyle was a true family man, enjoying being involved with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included photography, genealogy, UK basketball, restoring antiques, and traveling with his wife, Patricia.

He is greatly missed, his love for each one, always being ready to lend a hand, and sense of humor; are treasured memories.

Lyle is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Patricia Lowry. He has 4 children, Lloyd (Jan) Lowry, Leesa (Neal) Spurlock, Dale Lowry, and Kay (Kenny) Klinect. He has 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lyle was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

The Memorial Service for Lyle will be March 2nd, at 2 pm, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 280 E. Merritt Ave., Merritt Island, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyle’s name to Faith Lutheran Church or Vitas Foundation, 4450 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32934.
