BPN STAR PHYSICIAN

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Dr. Vincent Sciortino never dreamed that looking at a drawing by a 15th Century artist and inventor would change his life forever.

DR. SCIORTINO’s staff includes Barbara Rubino, Islma Sciortino, Abby Murphy, Veronica Raggio and Robin Carlsen.

As a child growing up in Bagheria, Sicily, Sciortino first caught a glimpse of anatomical drawings by Leonardo DaVinci and it prompted his interest in medicine and surgery. Sciortino moved with his family to the United States at the age of 5, but he returned to Sicily where he graduated from the University of Medicine and Surgery in Palermo.

He is board certified in family medicine and has been practicing since 1995, the past six years of which have been in Brevard County. Sciortino’s credentials include primary care and first assist surgery. He served as chairman of family practice at Wuesthoff Hospital for three years, was chairman of emergency services at Wuesthoff and also spent time as a military physician.

He has been honored as a top performer for 2011 by the Brevard Physicians Network based upon Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set care and service, something Sciortino said he is extremely proud of.

“I follow my patients from in-patient, out-patient, struggle with insurances to get the best consultants and recommendations for patient care,” he said. “I care about each and every patient I see.”

“I care about each and every patient I see and get the best consultants and recommendations for patient care.”

Employing a staff of five in his office at 7000 Spyglass Road, Suite 130 in Viera, Sciortino emphasizes placing patient needs above all else.

“Every one of our staff is unique in their own way,” he said. “They are all dedicated to the quality of care of patients in our practice. They are compassionate, patient and always go out of their way to accommodate everyone.”

Another part of his success is his ability to communicate effectively, whether it be teaching his staff the differences in skin irritations or how to detect heart murmurs.

He’s also fluent in three languages with the ability to converse in English, Spanish and Italian.
