Browning’s Celebrates 50 Years of Serving the Community

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Browning’s Pharmacy and Health Care celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a Customer Appreciation Cookout complete with food, drink, prizes and entertainment.

George Browning, along with his daughter Colleen Hunter, who now owns the business, and the entire Browning’s Team, commemorated the milestone which was hosted WJBJ  “Cruisin’ with the Classics.”

Among the dignitaries and organizations present  to officiate the ribbon cutting ceremony were City Council Member Kathy Meehan and the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Founded in 1962 by pharmacist George Browning, Browning’s Pharmacy and Health Care now provides the area with home medical equipment and supplies, as well as pharmaceuticals – including compounded drugs.

During the festivities, the Browning Team cut the ribbing to signify their expanded facilities and services as Hunter, takes the helm of the business.

“Over the years Browning’s has built a loyal clientele through their customer focused business plan and high quality services,” said Hunter.

“We look forward to another 50 years of continued excellence and top notch customer service.”

Deep Roots In the Community

From humble beginnings, Browning’s is an inspiring local success story that has withstood the test of time in competing with the “Big Box” pharmacies.

The pharmacy, originally located just 330 square-feet on Hickory Street in Melbourne, now encompasses more than 27,000 square feet – as well as a satellite location in Orlando. The Browning’s Team include 62 members, including Hunter’s brother, Kevin Browning.

The main office is located just two blocks from Holmes Regional Medical Center at 141. E. Hibiscus Blvd. Melbourne. This location includes the pharmacy; central billing; a health care store for home medical equipment and supplies; and diabetic shop and personal fitting rooms.

It also houses a rehabilitation center for the evaluation of patients who need custom rehabilitative equipment. Additionally, Browning’s provides private assessments and fittings in the home at customer request for no additional charge.

“In addition to our reputation for excellent service before, during, and after the sale, Browning’s is known throughout our service delivery area for assisting customers in finding specialized products and professional services,” said Hunter.

“Customer surveys consistently indicate that the Browning’s staff is considered friendly, courteous, professional and thorough. We recently were re-accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program.”
