GOLF ON THE SPACE COAST

BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA – Congratulations (and admiration) goes to John Wicklund for two Hole-In-One’s on consecutive Fridays – Friday, Jan. 13 and Friday, Jan. 20 at Suntree Country Club Challenge Golf Course.

In golf, a hole-in-one, also known as an ace is the game’s ultimate shot. It’s also one of the toughest feats in sports –and an extremely rare one.

According to USHoleInOne.com, which insures hole-in-one contests, the odds of getting a hole in one on a par-3 are 12,500 to 1 for an amateur and 7,500 to 1 for a pro.

So, USHoleInOne.com, what is the likelihood that a player accomplishes this feat twice, on back to back Fridays? On the same course…on the same hole…with the same club…both from 170+ yards?

I would have to bet those odds really get slim.

No matter how you slice it, luck is vital…but is it luck or skill when you hit a hole-in-one on back to back Fridays?

Wicklund scored on Hole #17; Gold Tees; Hole Plays 173; and with a 4-Iron both times.
