Bulldogs Scratch Way To Regional Semifinals

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Bulldogs have done it again.
Melbourne rallied for three fifth inning runs under coach Pete Donovan and went on to beat Daytona Beach Seabreeze 5-4 in the Class 6A regional quarterfinals at Melbourne High School on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (27-3) will host Eau Gallie (17-11), which knocked off Edgewater 4-1 on the road Thursday, in the Class 6A regional semifinals on Tuesday. It will be a rematch of last week’s District 7 championship game in which Melbourne stopped the Commodores, 11-4.
The regional semifinals will be the fourth matchup this year between the two teams. The Bulldogs prevailed twice over Eau Gallie 8-1 and 6-2 during the regular season.
Bishop Moore vs. Space Coast Vipers
In Class 4A quarterfinals on Thursday, Bishop Moore eliminated the Space Coast Vipers 6-3 and district champ Satellite beat Lake Highland Prep 6-4.
Bishop Moore will visit Satellite on Tuesday night in the Class 4A regional semifinals.

HEAT Swamped by Central Florida Christian
Two Brevard Class 2A baseball squads were eliminated in other regional quarterfinals on Tuesday,
The Brevard HEAT were swamped by Central Florida Christian 13-1, while Foundation Academy shut out Merritt Island Christian, 11-0.
Several other Brevard County teams qualified for regional semifinal games with wins earlier this week.
Next Week’s Action
In Class 3A, the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers will travel to Winter Park to meet Trinity Prep on Tuesday, while in Class 5A, the Rockledge Raiders will host Lake Wales on Tuesday.
