Colonel James Choromokos, Jr.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA — Colonel James Choromokos, Jr., 82, of Cocoa Beach, was born in Chicago, Illinois and went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

Jim received his bachelor degree in civil engineering in 1953 from the University of Miami, his master and PhD degrees in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1953 as a Second Lieutenant and retired in 1967 as a Colonel.

He received many awards and medals to include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star for Valor in Vietnam, three different Commendation medals.

Jim taught civil engineering at the Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinos for three years.

He then joined the US Army Corps of Engineers as their Director of research and development for eight years before retiring in 1987.

Jim worked part-time as an arbitrator on construction disputes for the American Arbitration Association for over thirty years.

Jim married Nancy J. Clarke in 1953, Martha T. Adams in 1972 and Bridget M. Connolly in 2007. His first two wives died after their divorce. Jim was happily married to Bridget until the end.

He moved to Cocoa Beach in 1995 and was very active at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church.

He was an avid golfer at Manatee Golf Course and at Patrick Air Force Base.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bridget; Jamison, his son; his daughter, Candace; granddaughter, Amie; sister, Sandra Miller of Miami, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5965 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne, Florida 32940.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10th, at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 11th, at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Melbourne.

Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Woodlawn Cemetery South in Miami, Florida.
