Extension Service Schedules New Training Classes

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Something for everyone appears to be the theme of  a number of new agriculture and extension service classes coming up the rest of this month in Cocoa.

Brevard County Agriculture and Extension Service and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences is offering these classes:

An Aquatic Pesticide Review Class. This is a review for those needing to add an aquatic category to the Pesticide Applicator License under Chapter 487 of the Florida Statutes. An examination will be offered after the class. It will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 31 at the Cocoa Extension Office, 3695 Lake Drive in Cocoa. The cost to attend is $25.

• A Natural Areas Weed Management Review Class. This will be a review for those needing to add a natural area category to the Pesticide Applicator License under Chapter 487 of the  Florida Statutes. An exam will be offered following the class. Instruction will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 27 at the Cocoa Extension Office.

A Florida Master Naturalist Coastal Module. This will provide instruction through classroom, field trips and practical experience about general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife and conservation issues of Coastal Systems in Florida. The total training time is 40 contact hours. Classes begin at 6 p.m. June 4 at the Cocoa Extension Office. The cost to participate is $225.
