Freshman’s Grades Earn Florida Tech Scholarship

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A Florida Tech freshman has been honored with a scholarship for his dedication to academics at the school.

Jake Wortman of Marblehead, Mass. received the Faculty Senate Scholarship at Florida Institute of Technology’s recent Honors Convocation.

The scholarship recognizes student excellence in a first-year student.

Wortman is a freshman in the Department of Physics and Space Sciences.

He is on the Dean’s List and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for first-year students.

As an active member of the Society of Physics Students, Wortman also is a participant in the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space group.  These organizations are hosted by his department.
