State Reveals Plans Thursday For Road Widening

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – With increased business at the Melbourne airport nearby and traffic increasing on Apollo Boulevard, a widening project for the busy street is now in the planning stages.

The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled a meeting to share plans for extending Apollo Boulevard across the Eau Gallie River, according to FDOT project manager Chris Dabson.

The public information meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Eau Gallie First Baptist Church at 1501 West Eau Gallie Blvd. in Melbourne.

At the meeting, state transportation officials will give a brief project overview presentation of the widening project and the construction of a new bridge spanning the river which is planned for 2014.
