BREVARD COUNTY, FORIDA – You would be amazed at how many young kids there are interested in golf.

Anyone who has played the game knows that it offers extreme anguish, fantastic satisfaction and always a great challenge.  Giving your child early instruction helps build good habits from the beginning and makes the game easier to learn in the long run.

“We want them to have fun taking instruction and at the same time help them to learn many of life’s lessons,” said Coach Greg Ford, PGA member and Tournament Director of the Space Coast Junior Golf Tour.

“Learning the game teaches discipline, patience, respect, and the importance of honesty and perseverance. Most of our juniors won’t grow up to be PGA Tour players but they can be proficient enough to play on school teams and enjoy the game recreationally with their friends.”

Teaching Fundamentals, Etiquette

The purpose of the Space Coast Junior Golf Tour (SCGJT) is to introduce our community’s junior golfers to the fundamentals and etiquette of golf in a fun environment while gaining exposure for those that want to take their talents to the next level.

“This is our second season and the turnout has been phenomenal,” said Bobby Walker, Executive Director of the Junior Tour.

“We now have 81 registered junior golf memberships. We are hosting two nationally ranked Junior Golf Scoreboard events this summer and we will also be creating a nonprofit foundation to award scholarships from the proceeds of the Junior Golf Tour. We anticipate announcing our scholarship program at a very special event in the near future.”

If your child has the interest and desires to play the game of golf, the Space Coast Junior Golf Association is a great place to introduce them to the game.
