BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – A barricaded suspect has surrendered to Rockledge Police Department officers after a nearly two-hour standoff.

About 2:24 p.m. Rockledge Police were called to a residence where an armed man was barricaded inside a home on Pelican Lane adjacent to Murrell Road.

Rockledge Police Department spokesman Michael Cadore said officers cordoned off the home and crisis negotiators worked to bring the man  out of the residence safely.

As a precaution for area residents to assure their safety, Cadore said residences nearby the standoff were temporarily evacuated.

Details about why the suspect is barricaded inside the residence remain unknown.
