Training began Monday and runs through Thursday.

The exercise is part of an annual Maintenance Rating Program.

Florida Department of Transportation officials say the program ensures consistency and assists inspectors to stay current in their fields.

Inspectors from transportation offices from across the state will take part in the training, as well as private contractors who do work for the Florida Department of Transportation.

The field work will include roadway surface evaluation, guardrail inspection, as well as shoulder and right-of-way maintenance evaluation.

Motorists are urged to use caution, drive with care, and to be on the look out for state transportation teams in the field during the training.
