Horschel’s putting struggled in the final round at Annandale Golf Club, but his one under par 71 was good enough to place third behind tournament winner Scott Stallings and Jason Bohn, who finished second.

After shooting a 68 to open the event, Horschel nine under par 63 on Friday left him atop the leader board enter8ing the tourney’s third round.

But Stallings surged to the lead Saturday and Horschel’s six-under 66 kept him tied for second with Bohn.

By virtue of his strong showing in the True South Classic, Horschel earned a spot in this weekend’s Canadian Open as an alternate.

As four-time All-American at the University 0f Florida, Horschel turned professional in 2009, but until Sunday had only one top-25 finish in the tournaments he has played in so far.

He has been hampered by a wrist injury during much of his pro career, but his play in the True South Classic may signal that his game is back and Horschel is ready to contend on the PGA Tour.
