Melbourne Woman Claims $1 Million Lottery Prize

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Nancy McGrath of Melbourne considers herself to be one lucky lady today.

McGrath, 53, was one of three people announced as winners of the Florida Lottery on Tuesday.

She claimed a $1 million prize in the Florida Lottery Black Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

McGrath chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $700,000.

She said purchased the winning ticket at One Stop Food & Discount Beverage at 1801 Post Road in Melbourne.

The $10 Scratch-Off game, Florida Lottery Black, launched in January, offers more than $53 million in prizes, including eight top prizes of $1 million and more than 820,000 prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000.

Florida Lottery offers more than 60 Scratch-Off games at any given time through instant ticket vending machines or on-counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, making up approximately 56 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $455 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2010-2011.
