The performance by the college student is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the library, 1195 North Courtenay Parkway.

The award-winning harpist will perform a variety of compositions, including works by Scarlatti, Liszt and Fauré.

A senior at Indiana University, Haley Rhodeside will be joined by her violinist brother, Tristan Rhodeside for Sonata for Harp and Violin by Boieldieu.

Merritt Island Public Library Director Jeff Thompson said he is pleased to welcome the public for this very special performance.

“This is a great opportunity to hear a very talented musician on an instrument that is not often featured in concert,” said Thompson.  “Our auditorium is perfect for an up-close musical experience.”

Haley Rhodeside is a two-time winner of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra concerto competition and was their principal harpist for three years.

She will return to Bloomington to complete her degrees in Harp Performance and Mathematics as she prepares for the 2013 USA International Harp Competition.
