Edward Road will be closed at the intersection with Walker Avenue starting today for about two weeks.

West Melbourne’s Operations Superintendent Randy Ashley said because of the closure, motorists will be detoured from the intersection.

All property owners where the improvements are scheduled to take place will continue to have access to their driveways.

Ashley said the purpose of the temporary road closure is to remove and replace the sewer manhole located at the intersection of Edward Road and Walker Avenue.

Traffic control signs have been installed to assist driver and Ashley said  weather and other unforeseen circumstances could affect the replacement schedule.

Also in West Melbourne, Brevard County crews will start construction of improvements to the intersection of Eber Boulevard and Minton Road around July 16.

This construction project is expected to last for about eight weeks and during this period, Eber Boulevard will be closed at the Minton Road intersection.

Brevard County Engineering Program Manager Richard Szpyrka said detour signs will be posted throughout the area in West Melbourne to assist motorists.
