Palm Bay Ready For Annual ‘Splashes & Sparks Celebration’

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The annual Splashes & Sparks Independence Day Celebration will return to Palm Bay on July 4 with a full dose of fun planned for the entire family.
The City of Palm Bay’s holiday extravaganza is sponsored by Health First Health Plans and will open at 5 p.m. today at the Brevard Community College Palm Bay Campus Fairgrounds.
The city of Palm Bay is expecting thousands to turn out for the event.
“We’re gearing up for the biggest Independence Day Celebration on the Space Coast,” said Heidi Lapin, Palm Bay Director of Parks and Recreation. “We’ve got music, food, fun and fireworks.”
Included at the celebration will be a performance from Open Fire, which was voted as Brevard County’s Best Band in 2010, along with musical selections by Palm Bay’s Idol Competition winners.
There will be bounce houses and water slides in the “Just for Kids” area and plenty of great food of all types available throughout the event.
Look for radio’s 98.5 “The Beach” Prize Patrol live on location starting at 7 p.m.
Lapin said there also will be a Kids Independence Day Bike Parade.
The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display starting at 9:15 p.m.
Guests are reminded to bring lawn chairs, blankets and insect repellent.
Lapin said Health First Health Plans, Zambelli Fireworks, Brevard Community College, Bright House, PODs, Inc., Coke, The Knowledge Exchange, Love Bugs Bakery, The Hometown News, Pepsi, Jo Daddy’s Golf Course, Waste Management and 98.5 The Beach are helping sponsor this year’s celebration.
