BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Con artists are back again in Palm Bay, this time using a phony letter to trick residents into purchasing water line insurance.

City of Palm Bay spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said utility customers in Palm Bay should be wary if they receive a water line insurance letter.

“Palm Bay Utilities Department would like to inform its customers and residents about a recent letter they may have received from an area air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing contractor recommending homeowners obtain water service line coverage,” Martinez said.

The letter and the services offered are in no way associated with the City of Palm Bay or the Palm Bay Utilities Department.

“This solicitation was not authorized by the City of Palm Bay, nor does the Palm Bay Utilities Department offer any such service,” Martinez said.

Residents are advised that if they receive such a letter, to please call the Palm Bay Utilities Department before purchasing any water line insurance coverage.

The phone number for the Palm Bay Utilities Department is 321-952-3410.
