Rockledge Police Department Community Information  Specialist Michael Cadore said two men approached the credit union at 634 Barnes Boulevard on Aug. 1 with the intent of commiting an armed robbery.

Cadore said they were armed with automatic weapons and had a third man stationed nearby in a waiting car as a lookout or getaway driver.

When credit union employees saw the men approaching the facility, the doors were locked, denying the suspects entry as police were summoned.

The two would-be robbers immediately fled the scene in separate vehicles, but the getaway driver, Levon Powell, was apprehended by police a short distance from the credit union.

Powell, 34, is believed to reside in Orlando. He was charged with robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The other suspects are about 6-feet in height and have medium builds with multiple tattoos. They are believed to have grown up in the Cocoa area and now reside in the Orlando area.

One was driving a maroon newer model Chevy Impala with chrome side panels with 5-Star alloy rims and black trim. The other was driving a GMC Serria Van.
