“The purpose of a party primary election is to allow the parties to choose their representative for the general election,” said Maddox.

“We have just been through an amazing year of campaigning and the voters have chosen Wayne Ivey as their Republican nominee for Brevard County Sheriff to face a Democrat in November. I believe in the party system and that we must come together at the end of the primary and work together. I have spoken with Wayne since the election and, while the past year of campaign has highlighted our differences, it is our common beliefs that now lead me to endorse his candidacy for Sheriff.

“We both believe in the value of community involvement, the need to make sure the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office have the tools necessary to do the job and the importance of the Sheriff as a constitutional officer. Wayne has repeatedly stated throughout the campaign his goal of continuing to build upon the strong leadership of Sheriff Jack Parker and his plans to keep our communities safe by building partnerships throughout Brevard. Wayne’s plans will grow a strong Sheriff’s Office to provide excellent service to the citizens of Brevard,” said Maddox.
