Update: Rockledge Claims Wins In Regional Pool Games

South Beaches Wins First Sr. Regional Game

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Rockledge All-Stars continued to shine in the Southeastern Junior Baseball Regionals defeating Vestivia Hills of Alabama 9-4 in the first game of tournament pool play Friday and then following that up with a 16-5 victory Saturday over East Marietta, Ga.

For Rockledge against East Marietta, Mason Studstill went 2-for-3 with a home run, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.  Teammate Gavin Spinneweber was also 2-for-3, scoring 3 runs and had drive in two.

Rockledge’s Trevor Payne had an RBI against East Marrieta, while going 2-for-4 and Justin Robedeau went 4-for-4, scoring 2 runs and had two RBI.  Brady Martello added a run in the mix while driving in four as he went 2-for-3.
North Carolina Junior champion Southwest Forsyth will meet Rockledge at 3 p.m. Sunday to wrap up pool play.

If Rockledge finishes first or second in its pool, the team will qualify for Monday’s semifinals.

Playing for the Rockledge All-Stars are Drew Parrish; Kevin Clanton; Mason Studstill; Mike Hall; Gavin Spinneweber; Trevor Payne; Kasim Nabhan; Blake Beyel; Justin Robedeau; Brady Martello; and Jackson Parker.

The team’s manager is David Clanton. Team coaches are Robbie Robedeau, Tom Hall, Shane Parker and Dino Martello.

The Southeastern Regional Junior Baseball Championship game will be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday with the winner advancing to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Mich.

Senior Baseball Regional

In the Southeastern Regional Senior Tournament at Viera Regional Park on Friday, South Beaches topped Myrtle Grove of North Carolina 16-7 in an opening round pool game and then defeated Hart County, Ga. 5-0 Saturday in its second tournament pool game.

South Beaches completes pool play with a matchup against Florida state champion Greater Largo at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Should South Beaches finish first or second in its pool, they will qualify for the regional semifinals Monday morning in Viera.

Semifinal winners play at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for the Southeastern Senior Regional Baseball title and a berth in the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine.

The South Beaches All-Stars are Austin Alsept, Carson Jackson, Gabriel Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez, Tyler Brennan, Cooper Christiano, River Horning, Joe Minkwitz, Reid Poltun, Chris Phillips, Kyle Starks and Taylor Yates.

John Phillips manages the South Beaches squad. John Christiano and Mike Alsept are the team’s assistant coaches.
