Swami: Major Upset Looms In Week 4 Of Prep Football

Editor’s note: The All-Knowing Swami was born into a vagabond family of gypsy fortune-tellers and his first job was passing out towels at practices for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL. Marveling at his psychic talent, he was frequently asked by players to predict the outcome of everything from Pop Warner Pee Wees matchups to the total number of times that Bret Favre would unretire. The All-Knowing Swami has correctly identified the last 29 Super Bowl champions in advance and has been hailed as a master prognosticator by everyone from Jimmy the Greek to Pete Rose. Relocating to Florida in 1987, the Swami practiced the psychic arts in Cassadaga before arriving in Brevard in 1990. He has been following high school football here ever since and will take on all challengers as the undisputed king of making prep predictions.                   

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – By this stage of the year, many prep football prognosticators have thrown in the towel and given up. Not the All-Knowing Swami though.

Unlike some amateur pickers who will resort to predicting the outcome of just three or four easy one-sided games to boost their average, the Swami actually peers across the sands of time into the future and visualizes what the scoreboards will look like as the final seconds tick off. And Swami picks every game, not just a few.

The All-Knowing Swami’s mystical powers are utterly amazing and will be put to the test once more as prep football squads from throughout Brevard County enter Week 4 of the season.

Here’s what Swami sees in his crystal ball this week:

** HERITAGE AT PORT ST. LUCIE — These Panthers are mighty and playing at a high level, but Port St. Lucie is no pushover. Heritage coach Ajay Ulmer has instilled a combination of two things in his team though — determination and confidence. It’s tough to beat a squad that has that.

** EAU GALLIE AT BAYSIDE — Commodores coming off two tough losses. The Bears are 0-3. Who wants a win more? In the murky underside of the crystal ball, Swami sees Bayside’s quarterback Lucious McKay standing tall.

** MELBOURNE AT PALM BAY — If the last two meetings of these two teams are any indication of what tonight’s matchup will be like, look out. It will feature drama, defense and unexpected moments. It will also be an emotional time for Palm Bay’s Caleb Alves, who will be suiting up for the Pirates for the final time.

** MCC AT FIRST ACADEMY — The young Hustlers will have their hands full on defense against the 3-0 Royals playing at home in Orlando. Swami likes the direction MCC is headed under Cocah Mike Riazzi, but not this week.

** FLORIDA AIR ACADEMY AT FATHER LOPEZ –– The Falcons are better than what they’ve shown s0 far and will be fired up for a trip north to Daytona. Swami sees a high-scoring affair with plenty of highlights to be spread around for both squads. In the end, Swami sees FAA’s Dwayne Robinson Jr.  having a hand in the final decision.

** SATELLITE AT ROCKLEDGE — Should be a classic contest of two strong defenses. Somewhere deep down inside Satellite coach Andrew Disney has a burning desire to will his team to the next level. Rockledge coach Larry Lawskowski’s squad has swagger and has proven to be up to the task. What this game will come down to is the ability to play mistake-free. In a topsy-turvy year, anything is possible.

** TRINITY PREP AT HOLY TRINITY— The 3-0 Tigers are at home against the 0-4 Saints. After a tough week of practice and some disturbing personal news about some family member’s health, Holy Trinity will be glad to take the field to shut out the world and claim a home victory.

** COCOA AT WARNER CHRISTIAN –– Fans are wondering if this is the week that the Cocoa Tigers emerge from hibernation. Swami is too. The opposing Eagles are 3-0 and playing at home in Daytona. Cocoa can unleash some talent, but it’s going to be a long night on defense for the Tigers. I expect Tauren Folston to step up and lead Cocoa to win at last although it won’t be easy.

** TITUSVILLE AT MERRITT ISLAND — The Terriers are hot and cold, look great one week , then get squashed the next. Merritt Island is young, but talented and keeps winning while learning. Nic Smith of the Mustangs is turning heads with his maturity and poise at quarterback.

** BISHOP McLAUGHLIN AT MERRITT ISLAND CHRISTIAN — The Hurricanes will be making the long drive from Spring Hill and to be dazzled by the bright light of Merritt Island. At 1-2, Bishop McLaughlin is a win better this season than the 0-2 Cougars. Swami Bishop

** COCOA BEACH AT FERNANDINA BEACH — The Minutemen are seeking revenge after falling to the Pirates in Cocoa Beach last year 10-8.  That’s going to change this year as Cocoa Beach coach Tony Piccalo has the team firing on all cylinders. As usual, expect Cocoa Beach David Dessent to find Boone Lewis in the end zone and a host of other Minutemen receivers as well.

** SPACE COAST AT ASTRONAUT — The Vipers are reeling, but the War Eagles are finally starting to click on both sides of the ball. This won’t even be close. Nick Rittenhouse is impressive for Space Coast, but Astronaut’s swarming defense playing before appreciative home fans will limit what he can do.
