Swami Sez: Week 3 Prep Picks Will Defy Imagination

By  //  September 14, 2012

Editor’s note: The All-Knowing Swami was born into a vagabond family of gypsy fortune-tellers and his first job was passing out towels at practices for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL. Marveling at his psychic talent, he was frequently asked by players to predict the outcome of everything from Pop Warner Pee Wees matchups to the total number of times that Bret Favre would unretire. The All-Knowing Swami has correctly identified the last 29 Super Bowl champions in advance and has been hailed as a master prognosticator by everyone from Jimmy the Greek to Pete Rose. Relocating to Florida in 1987, the Swami practiced the psychic arts in Cassadaga before arriving in Brevard in 1990. He has been following high school football here ever since and will take on all challengers as the undisputed king of making prep predictions.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Peering into the future, The All-Knowing Swami actually foresaw last week’s story weather and postponements of some prep football games across Brevard County, but was so excited at the prospect of MCC upsetting Trinity Prep, he neglected to share that knowledge with the public.

And if you thought, Week 2 was a bumpy ride, “Ol Swami forecasts an utterly mind-blowing experience for fans attending Week 3 games.

Here’s what the Swami forsees this week and he reminds everyone to always carry an umbrella…

*** MELBOURNE AT ROCKLEDGE. Two pretty good teams in a collossal matchup. Bulldogs continue to play solid defense and scored a lot of points last week. Rockledge was rained out and still smarting from a Week 1 loss to Palm Bay. As Swami sees it, this game will go down to the wire. But Swami sees the color blue emerging as victorious.

*** UNIVERSITY AT COCOA. The Tigers will not remain 0-1 for long. Expect lots of yardage generated by Tarean Folston on the ground against a defense suspect against the run. Swami also sees Jalen Knowles blossoming at quarterback for Cocoa and starting to click with his speedy receivers.

COCOA By 10

*** HARMONY AT HERITAGE. Ajay Ulmer has sprinkled his magical coaching dust over the Panthers. And suddenly Heritage’s ground game is magnificent. The defense is not too shabby either. This won’t even be close as Heritage advances to 3-0 on the year.

HERITAGE By 18

*** ASTRONAUT AT BAYSIDE. No way these two teams are without a victory between them. There will be  enough talent on display in this game that even Howard Stern may sit up and take notice. But getting down to specifics, The outcome of this game will be decided by the Astronaut defense. If the War Eagles are able to contain Bayside quarterback Lucious Jackson, they will win. If not, it will be a long night for Astronaut coach Randy Hallock.

*** PALM BAY AT OSCEOLA.  Pirates will be raring to go after falling about a yard short Monday night at home against Fort Pierce Central. Cowboys are formidable, but never bet against Palm Bay coach Dan Burke not having his team prepared in a short week.

OSCEOLA By 1

*** MONTEVERDE ACADEMY AT MCC. The Eagles are a dominant team in basketball, but can they play outdoors in a game that requires shoulder pads? Swami says no and likes the Hustlers to grab another big win behind sensational but young quarterback Brandon Ziarno.’

MCC By 8

*** VICTORY CHRISTIAN AT FLORIDA AIR ACADEMY. The Falcons are tough at home and Victory Christian is 0-2 so far. The Storm feature star running back

FLORIDA AIR By 5

*** VIERA AT SATELLITE. The Hawks can’t catch a break yet in 2012 and this will not be their week either. The Scorpions are determined and with a bye week to get ready, Coach Andrew Disney will have the scrappy Scorps offense fired up. Of course, when all else fails, Satellite can rely on its tough “in your face” defensive prowess.

SATELLITE By 16

*** MARTIN COUNTY AT EAU GALLIE. Will the real Commodores please stand up? Swami thinks they will against Martin County and make this a whale of a game. Expect Eau Gallie to call upon Torrance Brown to deliver the goods and help to provide another win for the Commodores.

(UPSET SPECIAL EAU GALLIE By 7)

*** HOLY TRINITY AT MASTER’S ACADEMY. The Eagles have  a proven performer in junior linebacker Wade Connett and will feature a slashing running game using junior Seth Kearney. Swami like Holy Trinity chances though and expects the Tigers to remain unbeaten even if the game is in Oveido.

HOLY TRINITY By 20

*** MERRITT ISLAND AT EAST RIDGE. Quarterback Nic Smith continues to improve under the careful mentoring of Mustangs coach Jeff McLean. Merritt Island’s defense will have to guard against sleeepwalking though against East Ridge.

MERRITT ISLAND By 16

*** MERRITT ISLAND CHRISTIAN AT LANDMARK CHRISTIAN. Cougars are anxious to get into the win column, but it won’t come on the road in Haines City. The Patriots have a potent one-two punch in Keland White and Nydarius Roberts and an experienced quarterback in Seth Johnson.  Cougars Coach David Nevad is a pretty good motivator, but Swami says it’s not to be this week.

LANDMARK CHRISTIAN By 30

*** SPACE COAST AT COCOA BEACH. After taking it on the chin two weeks in a row and having their head coach Kevin Freeman step down, Space Coast may be a ways away from re-establishing a winning tradition. The Minutemen, on the other hand, chewed up Viera on Monday night and made it look easy. The David Dessent to Boone Lewis aerial assault will continue against the Vipers.
