BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Community College golf team sits in second place after the first round of the NJCAA Division I District 4 Preview tournament in Pendleton, S.C.

BCC shot 287 to trail leader Central Alabama by five strokes.

Keith Greene of the Titans shot a 69 to tie for first place individually.

BCC head coach Jamie Howell isn’t conceding anything to Central Alabama.

“It’s early in the tournament,” he said. “It is obvious Central Alabama is very good. I don’t plan on playing second fiddle to them all year.”

Other BCC scores: Arthur Leonard, 72; Brett Maue, 73; Nick Maynard, 73; Blake Biggs, 74.

Because of the slow pace of play, the second round was to conclude Tuesday morning to be followed by the third round for a total of 54 holes over the par-71, 6,500-yard Boscobel Golf & Country Club course.
