Florida Surfside Academy Launches New Lacrosse League

Fall/Winter Initiative For Students

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Surfside Lacrosse Academy, run by Florida Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse coaches, is accepting registrations for Zulu lax, a new fall/winter lacrosse league.

The league is for middle school and high school age lacrosse players from Brevard County. Player evaluation and team selection will be on Sunday, Nov. 4 at the lacrosse field at Melbourne Central Catholic High School.

The league is organized and run by Florida Tech lacrosse coach Tim King.

He is the co-director of Surfside Lacrosse Academy and Head Assistant Coach for the Florida Tech men’s lacrosse team.

A Baltimore native, King brings years of coaching experience and most recently was the defensive coordinator for the Florida Southern men’s lacrosse team.

King has lead teams to win a national lacrosse championships and has coached at the high school and college level. Multiple FIT lacrosse players will assist King.

“The kids will receive college-level coaching and will be exposed to collegiate lacrosse players,” said King. “We are very excited to be able to connect with local Brevard county lacrosse players and look forward to growing our league.”

Program details for the new league are as follows:

• Games begin Sunday, Nov. 11 and run through Sunday, Dec. 9

• Player evaluation is on Sunday, Nov. 4, 4 to 6 p.m.

• Cost is $75 per player and includes a team jersey

• All games and evaluation are at Melbourne Central Catholic High School

• Format is 6 vs. 6

• 10 to 12 players per team

• Middle school and high school age boys

• Format includes playoffs and a championship game

• Players must be registered with US Lacrosse

• Sunday, Nov. 4 is the LAST DAY to register for the league
