Jim Grimes has been elevated from assistant head coach to associate head coach and assistant coach Chris Ronan has been given additional duties as recruiting coordinator.

Grimes came to BCC from Covenant Christian School in Palm Bay where he was head coach of the boys’ basketball team for eight seasons.

Ronan joined the BCC staff for the 2012-13 season. Nearing completion of his associate degree at BCC, Ronan brings experience as a coach in numerous youth leagues as well as playing experience at Bayside High in Palm Bay.

Shulman praised both coaches.

“We are pleased to promote Jim Grimes to associate head coach,” Shulman said. “He has been a valuable asset to the Brevard basketball program for the last two years. His promotion is already making an impact.

“Coach Grimes will have many added responsibilities including co-running practices, running individual workouts, helping with our strength and conditioning program, detailed film breakdown, organizational duties, and day-to-day planning, including practice plans.

“Coach Ronan is new to the Brevard coaching staff but has already elevated himself to recruiting coordinator in addition to assistant coach. Coach Ronan is in charge of evaluating talent, making first contact with high school, prep school, and AAU coaches, putting together recruiting reports, and overall organization of the entire recruiting effort.

“He has earned these responsibilities quickly and proficiently, and we could not be more excited to have him as a part of this outstanding coaching staff we have assembled.”

BCC opens its regular season at the Northwest Florida Tip-Off Classic in Niceville on Nov. 2 and 3.

Then Titans’ first regular-season home game is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 against Daytona State College.
