Edvardsson, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden and BCC’s leading scorer in 2011, has scored in five of the team’s six games.

The Titans are 6-1 (one victory was awarded by forfeit) and ranked second in the nation in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.

“That’s amazing, I love to get the recognition, it means a lot to me,” Edvardsson said. “I’m here and soccer is my life and to be recognized is great. But then again I always look to be better. I still think I have a lot in me to give. When the season goes forward hopefully you are going to see more.”

Edvardsson’s efforts drew praise from BCC head coach Jeff Carr.

“She’s always in the right place at the right time,” Carr said. “She knows how to put it in the back of the net. That’s what great strikers do. She’s a captain, our leader and she performs on the field.”

Edvardsson also was honored as BCC’s inaugural student-athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 3.
