BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida State League has announced that the Brevard County Manatees are the league’s nominee for the Larry MacPhail Award and also that Manatees general manager Kyle Smith was named the FSL Executive of the Year.
One overall winner of the Larry MacPhail Award will be selected at the 2012 Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville in December, as each of the 15 leagues throughout Minor League Baseball will each have one team nominated.
The nominees were selected by the league’s directors and general managers.
Outstanding, Creative Promotions
The Larry MacPhail Award is given to a club that demonstrates outstanding and creative marketing and promotional efforts within its community, its ballpark (including non-game day events), in media and other promotional materials.
“Being the Larry McPhail Award nominee from the Florida State League is a very special honor for our organization,” Brevard County Manatees general manager Kyle Smith said.
“It’s a testament to the efforts of everyone associated with the Manatees organization.
“That being said, everyday this off-season, our staff is working toward making our 20th season of Manatees Baseball the most entertaining and fan-friendly ever at Space Coast Stadium.”
Brevard County was the last Florida State League organization to win the Larry MacPhail Award as the Manatees brought home the honor back in 2005.
