More Possible Victims Out There

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Detectives from the West Melbourne Police Department have arrested a 63-year-old man on a host of sex-related charges.

West Melbourne Police Lt. Richard Cordeau said Jerrell M. Johns of 2200 Brookshire Circle was taken into custody Friday and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition and two counts of exposure of sexual organs.

Cordeau said Johns has been arrested previously on similar charges.

“In October of 2011, Johns intentionally exposed his genitals to a woman and her 2-year-old child,” Cordeau said.  “Again in December of 2011, he exposed himself to a child under the age of 16.”

If convicted, lewd and lascivious exhibition is a second degree felony, carrying a term of imprisonment not to exceed 15 years.  Exposure of sexual organs is a first degree misdemeanor and if convicted, carries a term of incarceration not to exceed  one year.

Cordeau said several other victims have come forward to report numerous similar incidents that took place in the Heritage Oaks Subdivision of West Melbourne.

“Detectives are still working with other victims at this time, and are asking any other potential victims to call Sergeant Carlos Navedo at the West Melbourne Police Department at 321-723-9673,” Cordeau said.

Johns is in the Brevard County Jail and is being held on a $31,000 bond.
