BREVARD COUNTY • SCOTTSMOOR, FLORIDA – A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday night while driving near Scottsmoor.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said  Ronald Jones of Oak Hill, 73, was riding a 2011 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. Hwy. 1 near Sunset Avenue in Scottsmoor about 11 p.m. Saturday.

“For an unknown reason he left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder,” Montes said.

The motorcycle overturned and Jones, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected.

He was taken to Parrish Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Montes said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
