Palm Bay Police Department Public Information coordinator Yvonne Martinez said Robert Gamache, 75, called his wife several times while on the road to report he was fine, however he was disoriented.

During one of the phone calls he told his wife he was on his way home to Virginia where the couple used to live.

Martinez said the couple moved to Florida in September.

Detectives made contact with authorities in Valdosta, Ga. late Tuesday and confirmed Gamache’s location and that he was safe.

His wife then drove to Valdosta to bring him home.

A Silver Alert had been issued in attempts to find Gamache, who left his home around 2:15 p.m. Monday and did not return.

He was expected to be back home around 4 p.m.

Gamache was driving a tan Ford pickup truck with a topper when he was last seen.
