Doctors Jen and Paul Sikoski, veterinarians at Palm Bay Animal Clinic and Clearlake Animal Hospital, started this run in 2010 to help raise awareness of pet obesity and gain community support for two local shelters — the North and South Brevard County Animal Shelters.

These two shelters are county-run facilities and are in constant need of community support.

Families, teams and solo participants are invited to support this event by running or walking the 3.1 mile course through the Bayfront District with or without their pet.

An awards ceremony follows at Palm Bay Animal Clinic at which time there will be opportunities to network, obtain adoption information, and enjoy family fun with their favorite “K-9s”.

The race begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Palm Bay Animal Clinic (3970 Dixie Highway NE Palm Bay).

Besides the benefits of exercising with your favorite K-9, each participants will receive a free T-shirt with a paid pre-registration for the 5K race.

There also will be special awards for the Top Three Dogs and great K-9 medals for all award winners.

All proceeds benefit the Brevard County animal shelters.

Registration forms are available at many locations including the Palm Bay Animal Clinic (3970 Dixie Highway NE, Palm Bay) and Clearlake Animal Hospital (771 Clearlake Road, Cocoa) or online through http://www.runningzone.com/ or http://www.palmbayanimalclinic.com/.
