Community Orchestra Presents ‘Tis The Season’ Concert

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Even if the weather outside is frightful, the 50-piece Melbourne Community Orchestra will present “Tis the Season,” celebrating the holidays with back-to-back concerts this week.

The Melbourne Community Orchestra will present “Tis the Season” on Dec. 5 and 6 at the Melbourne Auditorium. From left are orchestra trombone players Cathie Bishop, Jana Doss, Anita Lane and Clinton Smith.

Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Melbourne Auditorium at 625 Hibiscus Boulevard in Melbourne.

The group will perform selections from the Nutcracker, Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival,Carol of the Drum, A Vaughan Williams Christmas, Jubilee, Sleigh Ride, and many more favorites.

Melbourne Community Orchestra president, Jana Doss knows they have another great show on tap.

”This is our favorite concert of the year,” said Doss.  “The audience is in a festive mood and our musicians love spreading the holiday cheer.”

The non-profit Melbourne Community Orchestra is an all-volunteer orchestra, performing seven sets of free concerts each season.

Conducted by Aaron Collins, the dynamic orchestra is comprised of more than 50 musicians ranging from student players to adult hobbyists and full-time professionals.

Clair Cristy is the orchestra’s beloved founder and holds the title of Conductor Emeritus.

The orchestra’s repertoire includes music from symphonic to pop, including movie soundtracks and show tunes, opera, ballet and patriotic arrangements.

The Melbourne Community Orchestra is dedicated to enhancing the appreciation and understanding of orchestral music in Brevard County and strives to provide an intimate audience experience.

Admission to the event is free and doors open at 6:30 each night for best seating.
