Merritt Island’s Angie Patrick coached the winning team. “It was one of the highlights of my career,” said Coach Patrick. “Awesome talent and it was an honor to coach them. Morgan did fantastic and tallied 15 kills, three blocks and 5 digs.”

Danielle Klein, Van Alstine’s teammate on the Mustangs was selected to play but fell ill and missed the game. The all-star game featured 24 of the best prep players in the state and was hosted by St. Leo University in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Van Alstine had a big week as she was selected Most Valuable Player for the North Team of the Brevard County North-South Prep Volleybll Match – and was also named the Class 5A Player of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers. She once again lead Merritt Island to the state final game this season, after winning the state championship in 2011.
