Titans Improve To 17-4 On Season

MIAMI, FLORIDA – Heading into Saturday’s Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference game at Miami Dade there was a nagging worry in the mind of Brevard Community College head men’s basketball coach Jeremy Shulman.

Shulman fretted that his team, coming off a draining signature win over previously unbeaten and nationally second-ranked Palm Beach State College and facing a Wednesday home game against arch rival and conference foe Indian River State College, would be flat.

But BCC started fast on Saturday in Kendall, building an early double-digit lead and extending it to 47-26 at the half. BCC didn’t let up in the second half, opening a 57-33 lead and cruising to a 96-50 victory.

BCC improved to 17-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Miami fell to 10-11 overall and 0-3 in conference.

Sophomore co-captain Nyles Evans led BCC with 22 points. Fellow co-captain Addison Spruill added 19 and freshman Jordan Smith 18.

Sophomore Gary Gaskins had five blocked shots giving him 12 in his last two games. He also contributed 11 points.

Indian River comes calling at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Melbourne Campus gym. BCC beat Indian River 78-66 in Fort Pierce on Jan. 12.
