Kaner Praised For Test Improvements

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Institute of Technology professor Cem Kaner has been honored as the recipient of the third annual Software Testing Luminary Award.

Awarded by Software Test Professionals, the honor was given at the group’s convention held in Miami.

Industry professionals around the world voted for Kaner based on his strong, long-term impact on the field of software testing.

The Luminary Award honors software testing and quality assurance professionals who are committed to improving testing processes, developing ideas and elevating the software testing and development profession.

The professional group defines luminaries as those who inspire others to pursue a software testing career and share their knowledge and experience with others to advance the profession, improving the career paths of all practitioners.

Kaner has pursued a multidisciplinary career centered on the satisfaction and safety of software customers and workers.

With a law degree, a doctorate in experimental psychology and 17 years spent working in the Silicon Valley, Kaner joined Florida Tech as a professor of software engineering in 2000. He is also author of three books on the subject of software testing.

At Florida Tech, his research is focused on fostering the next generation of leaders in software testing.
