EDC Economic Review Released. The EDC has issued its Winter-Spring Economic Review. The eight-page, semi-annual booklet features the latest data on key economic indicators from across the Space Coast, including unemployment, retail activity, building permits and more.

EDC Investors Honored In Melbourne. EDC Investors Port Canaveral, Sorensen Corporation and AAR’s Davenport were recognized with Melbourne chamber awards on February 1. The Port, a Leadership level investor, received the Impact award, the chamber’s highest honor. Sorensen – Allied Moving & Storage, a Board of Advisor level Investor, was recognized with the Grow Local Award, while Alice Davenport of AAR, a Chairman’s level Investor, received the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Williams Completes Major Projects. M.H. Williams Construction Group, an EDC Corporate level Investor, recently completed two high-profile projects. The National Elephant Center is located on 225 acres near Fellsmere. Phase I of the project consists of three large meandering areas, with an 18,000-square-foot open air barn and a 2,000-square-foot office, storage and prep area. Also, the Melbourne company in early January finished the renovation of the 21,000-square-foot library and collaborative working center at Brevard Community College in Melbourne.

Firm Is Growing. Berman Hopkins Wright & LaHam CPAs and Associates is growing. The EDC Corporate level Investor merged with Rotroff, Fisher & CO., P.A., and Eric T. Burton, CPA, in November and has expanded its Melbourne office.

Contract For Craig. Craig Technologies has been awarded a prime contract for the Air Force Institute of Technology School of Systems and Logistics Course Development Program. The contract calls for the EDC Corporate level Investor to provide technical support to develop courses for adult learners in the acquisition and sustainment career fields.

BCC Seeks Program Input. As it prepares to launch its first bachelor degree program in Organizational Management, Brevard Community College, an EDC Chairman’s level Investor, wants your input on other programs that would support the community’s educational needs. Please fill out this survey by February 24.

McIntyre Honored. Larry McIntyre, president of Clear Channel Outdoors, a EDC Chairman’s level Investor, received the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Service Award, the group’s highest honor, at a banquet on January 18. Take a look.

UCF Earns a First With Award. The University of Central Florida becomes the only U.S. university to earn the U.S. President’s Volunteers Service Award for 2011-12. The EDC Chairman’s level Investor received the gold award in honor of the more than 35,000 hours UCF volunteers donated, more than double the amount necessary to be eligible for the honor. Other winners included Walt Disney World, AT&T and General Electric.

Lightle Earns SIOR. Brian Lightle, Principal at Lightle Beckner Robison, an EDC Ambassador level Investor, recently received the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors’ Specialty Designation of Office Transaction Specialist. This designation recognizes the highest level of industry achievement.

Business Group Seeking Companies. A national women’s business group is searching for the 50 fastest growing women owned/led companies in North America. If your business is privately-owned, women-owned/led, generated at least $500,000 in annual revenue by year-end 2007 and reached revenues of $2 million by year-end 2012, your business may be eligible. Health Industry Trip Planned. March 1 is the deadline to register to join other Florida companies at Hospitalar 2013, one of the largest health fairs in Latin America scheduled for May 21-24 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
