Squad Faces St. Leo In Melbourne Tonight

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s strong start to the 2013 season has earned the club a slot in the national rankings.

The NCAA Division II baseball website, D2BaseballNews.com, has voted the Panthers into the No. 24 slot.

The Panthers have opened the season 11-3 and 5-1 in Sunshine State Conference play. FIT has lost just one weekend game thus far in the young season.

On Tuesday, Florida Tech will play host to another ranked team in the Saint Leo Lions.

Saint Leo, though not ranked in the D2BaseballNews.com poll, is ranked No. 23 according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The Lions are currently 10-2 and are one of just three teams in the SSC with 10 wins or more. The other, Tampa, is ranked No. 3 in the same poll.

The Panthers and Lions will meet in a non-conference regional game at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.

First pitch of the game is slated for 6 p.m.
