Hopes To Pitch Professionally

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 225 pounds, Dylan Hawkins is an impressive figure to suit up for Brevard Community College’s baseball team this year.

Hawkins is a freshman left-handed pitcher who is expected to shoulder a lot of the pitching load for the Titans this season.

Playing high school, ball for the Eau Gallie Commodores, Hawkins was one of the most dominant prep pitchers in the state last year, compiling a record of 10-3 as a senior while posting an ERA of 0.95.

He also tracked up 147 strikeouts in just 88.2 innings pitched in 2012.

And he’s already committed to finishing his college career for the national baseball powerhouse the University of Miami Hurricanes when his time at BCC is over.

We caught up with Hawkins at the Brevard Community College Spring Sports Media Day and asked him about making the transition from high school to college baseball, his goal to pitch professionally and what he thinks about the Titans’ baseball chances this season.
