The Henegar Center for the Arts and Swingtime Jazz Band will jointly present an evening of “Big Band” music during a fundraising concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the Henegar Center, 625 E New Haven Avenue in Melbourne.

Tickets for the event, which will benefit ongoing facility upgrades for the theater, are priced at $20.

The two organizations are collaborating to bring audience members “A Romantic Evening,” showcasing the tunes of Big Band masters Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Les Brown. Popular local vocalists Sally Hart and Len Fallen will perform.

“We’re excited to be working with the Swingtime Jazz Band on this evening of great music,” said Kathy Kett, managing director of the Henegar Center. “This event will help us to continue enhancements to our facility to provide our audience with the finest possible entertainment experience when they visit us.”

Swingtime’s conductor agreed.

“The Henegar Center and Swingtime are two long-time stalwarts in the local cultural community, and this special evening will increase awareness of both organizations with our respective audience members,” said Art Martin, conductor of Swingtime. “We are looking forward to presenting a top-notch program of classic Big Band tunes that will be enjoyed by everyone.”

Tickets can be purchased from the Henegar Center by calling 321-723-8698, or through the website, www.henegar.org.
