Legendary Wrestler Ready To Meet Fans
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The “Nature Boy” is on his way to Melbourne.
Ric Flair, a 24-time world heavyweight wrestling champion known nationwide for his colorful commentary, flamboyant robes, questionable tactics and unforgettable “Whoooo” yell, will appear Sunday at the NXT wrestling event at the Melbourne Auditorium.
Flair captured the NWA heavweight title by defeating Bobo Brazil in 1977 and defended his title as U.S. champion by knocking off Jimmy “Super Fly” Snuka, Ricky Steamboat, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and his former tag team partner Greg Valentine.
But his popularity really skyrocketed when he adopted the moniker “Nature Boy” in 1978 to incite a feud with the original “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers.
In a Hall of Fame career now spanning more than four decades, Flair has wrestled in the NWA, WCW, WWF/WWE and the TNA and been a member of the legendary wrestling team known as The Four Horsemen.
He’s also weathered numerous run-ins with law enforcement, four rocky marriages and appeared as an actor on television in Baywatch and The Cleveland Show.
Flair will participate in a meet and greet for autographs along with NXT Diva Charlotte beginning at 4 p.m. for VIP seating and 4:30 for all other ticket levels, including General Admission and Gold Circle.
Wrestling begins at 6 p.m. at the Melbourne Auditorium at 625 E. Hibiscus Boulevard in Melbourne.
