Broward Turns Back BCC In Baseball

Titans Now 10-9 On Season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Broward College handed Brevard Community College its first Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference baseball loss of the season on Friday, defeating the Titans 7-4 at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus.

BCC fell to 10-9-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Broward, playing its first conference game, improved to 14-7 overall.

Broward outhit BCC 11-8, stole five bases and put runners on base every inning. Luke Stewart who had three hits, a walk and three runs batted in, led the Seahawks. Broward also got triples from leadoff hitter Vaughn Bryan and Lorzenzo Papa.

However, four BCC pitchers struck out 11 Broward hitters but allowed six walks and hit two batters. Broward stranded 10 runners.

Roman Restrepo, who had three hits, including a double, and a run scored, led BCC at the plate. BCC batters struck out eight times and stranded eight runners.

Aaron Miller was the losing pitcher for BCC which held a 2-1 lead after the first inning but allowed a total of six Broward runs over the fifth through eighth innings.

The teams play again at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field and admission to BCC home games is free.
