Lifeguard Certification Training Available in Rockledge

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Two upcoming sessions are scheduled to help certify lifeguards.

The next session of lifeguard classes will be held March 22 to 23 at McLarty Park, 790 Barton Blvd. in Rockledge.

Classes on Friday are held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday classes are held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All classes must be attended in order to obtain certification.

Interested candidates must be 15 years of age, able to swim 300 yards nonstop (freestyle and breaststroke), swim 20 yards, pick up a 10-pound object and return to the start point in 1 minute and 40 seconds and tread water with legs only for 2 minutes.

Candidates who pass the swim test will be charged $160 to take the lifeguard classes.

Completing this course will certify you to lifeguard at any American Red Cross facility.
