THE SPACE COAST, USA – The Prairie State College Pioneers softball team of Chicago Heights, Ill. will enjoy the great weather and amenities on the Space Coast during their upcoming week-long stay for Spring Training.

Over the next six weeks, Brevard Productions, East Central Florida’s premier sports management and special events company, will bring in more than 4,000 college and high school athletes from all over the U.S. who will be staying for up to a week as part of Brevard Production’s Spring Training – pumping millions of dollars into the local economy.

“Including players, coaches and family members, Prairie State has more than 55 people enjoying the great weather and amenities on the Space Coast,” said Director Giles Malone.

Mavericks Sports Grill & Bar is the home of the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.

While they are here, the Pioneers will be thanked and honored for patronizing the Space Coast during a special dinner at Mavericks Sports Grill & Bar on Merritt Island.

“From the beautiful softball complex at the Chain of Lakes Park, to the welcoming hospitality of our hotels and restaurants, Prairie State College’s players, coaches and parents are sure to have a memorable spring training.”

Prairie State College Offers 100 Fields of Study

Prairie State College features a 137-acre campus located in Chicago Heights, Illinois that offers associate degrees, technical and career certificates and adult, corporate and continuing education.

Founded in 1957, the campus is located approximately 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. With an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, Prairie State College offers degrees and certificates in more than 100 fields of study.

Prairie State College is one of the 39 community college districts in Illinois, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. 

The Pioneers’ head coach is Marty Mears, and assistant coaches are Dan Corradetti and Samantha Baumgartner.

ABOVE: THE 2013 Prairie State College roster.  The Pioneers are member of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference which consists of eight members who compete in twelve sports for athletic conference championships. In addition the conference host co-curricular events from the fine arts and academic departments.
