One Senior Place will navigate the maze of Brevard housing alternatives during their annual Senior Living Options Day from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 22 at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera.

Participants at the free event can win door prizes and enjoy samples of culinary treats prepared by several senior community top chefs during the Celebrity Chef Competition.

The first 100 people will be issued Grand Prize tickets for a chance to win a 47″ flat screen television. The winning ticket holder must be present to win.

This educational event will explore available housing options and local resources, providing tips and strategies for both seniors and senior caregivers.

One Senior Place Director, Kathi Ridner said that the popular Senior Living Options Day event is always a day full of fun and information.

“We try to remove the frustration from what can be an overwhelming array of choices,” said Ridner. “Senior Living Options Day help seniors and their families decide what’s appropriate for their situation.  We’re here to provide resources and help narrow their focus to a manageable list of options.”

Elder Care professionals will provide a comprehensive overview of the host of living choices available to seniors in a program entitled, “Senior Retirement Living” at the event.

A number of the senior living communities from Brevard’s only Senior Living Options Showroom will be highlighted to illustrate the wide number of alternatives open to seniors. These include independent living and 55-Plus communities, assisted living and memory care facilities.

Of particular interest to U.S. military veterans will be a session about benefits designed to help qualifying veterans pay for assisted living.

A discussion about long term care insurance will address whether policies may help pay for in-home care and/or provide benefits for a move to assisted living.
