Expansion To Second Location Coming March 15

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – In little more than a year of operation, the UPS store in West Melbourne has reached a major milestone in a field of  4,500 independent UPS retailers.

Since opening their first store in November 2011, under the leadership of Sean Ficke, store manager and Edward Ellis, president, the West Melbourne UPS store has attained the pinnacle “Bronze” level status based on sales results.

According to Evan Harrison, head of regional operations overseeing more than 230 stores throughout the region, the accomplishment is significant.

“This is almost unheard of in our franchising history, Harrison said. “Sean and his UPS team in West Melbourne have been able to achieve in one year what normally takes most of our stores three to four years to achieve. By adhering to our proven business model and replicated it along with providing outstanding customer service, they were able to basically sprint to the Bronze level.

“Under Sean’s leadership, they’ve provided the talent, management, and applied UPS procedures and methodologies to a ‘T,’ which is the primary reason they have been so uniquely successful in such a short time,” he said.

Most consumers are aware of what UPS typically does, which is pack and ship packages.

But the UPS Store in West Melbourne does so much more and is a virtual, “One-stop-shop” for the small business owner at typically lower costs than larger operations – including printing, mailbox rental, expert graphic design services, laminating, and in-store customer self-service computer use.

Both Ellis and Ficke completed print services training provided by UPS University based upon the curriculum created by California Polytechnic State University.

This hands-on training certification allows their store to offer “bleeding-edge” extensive printing services; inclusive of digital color/multi-function printers, and now wide-format printing at extremely competitive pricing.

In the printing sector, the West Melbourne store is Number 1 among UPS stores based on volume and this is another achievement they’ve been able to achieve in record time.

“We’re extremely proud of our staff and grateful to the community of which so much of our success must be attributed to,” Ficke said. “We believe strongly in giving back. That’s why we offer student discounts on our services. And why we remain very involved in the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has worked side-by-side with us since day one.”

Ficke said with the amazing support of the community, UPS, and the store’s staff, the company will expand beachside and will open its second full-service UPS Store in the Publix Shopping Center in Indian Harbour Beach on March 15.

A soft opening for the store will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. March 15. The “Runaway Country” Bus will be there prior to the Runaway Country Music Festival and 98.5 “The Beach” radio station will be hosting a live-remote from the location as well.
