On her FOX News show this afternoon, anchor Megyn Kelly interviewed the editor of the Des Moines Register after the paper published an online interactive map revealing which of the state’s schools do, or don’t, have security on campus. Earlier this week, the paper published the map and information on their site.

After controversy erupted, the Register took down the page within 20 minutes, but many citizens are still outraged, claiming the paper “endangered” students by potentially revealing to possible gunmen the schools that do not have resource officers in addition to police or security presence.

This incident follows last December’s controversial decision by the the Journal News, published in Westchester County, New York, to publish a detailed map of every resident from three New York counties who legally own a pistol.

Please leave your opinions and comments below to this question: Even if it is legal, does it show good judgement and sound ethics for a media outlet to publish sensitive security details of schools?
