BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This Saturday, April 20, we will celebrate the 11th Annual Caring Hearts Benefit with the  purpose of assisting local cancer patients undergoing treatments by paying for their basic living expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities and pain and cancer related medications. This is so that they may place all their efforts in getting well by alleviating some of the stress associated with a diagnosis of cancer.

Back in 2002, as the patient load increased, it became self-evident that we needed a signature event that would raise enough monies in order to never turn anyone away due to lack of funds. This idea came from one of our past board member Gary Wynberg, and it has been a real blessing to patients.

The first two years it was held at different venues, but for the last nine years, the André family have graciously offered their stunning home as the host venue forthe event.  It is one of the most beautiful tropical settings in Brevard, and you will be surrounded by wonderful people whose mission is to help those suffering from this scourge, cancer, alleviating their rocky road a bit by keeping their homes and basic living expenses at bay.

CULINARY DELIGHTS, GREAT ENTERTAINMENT

The food will be catered by Tim Webber with five different food stations that will delight all tastes, and Mel High Culinary Chef Mike Ferguson, and his talented students, will delight us with their sweet creations.

Chef Cathy of the Christian Culinarian will bring her top of the line delicacies. And last but not least, Jason of Cosmic Café, will have his incredible coffee with fun toppings. There will be wine stations with the wine procured by Pettys of Suntree, along with a myriad of different beers for the beer aficionados, from Carroll Distributors.

To welcome the guests they will be greeted by guitarist Arturo Echarte of Acoustic for a Change. The music does not end there – Guitarist Don Soledad with his upbeat Flamenco music, along with an upright bass and percussion sets the tone for an unforgettable evening.

FANTASTIC & VALUABLE AUCTION ITEMS

The Live Auction will be brought to our guests by Wayne and Barbara West of the American Fundraising Foundation and they have personally traveled to the different places that will be auctioned and give them their Five Star rating.  They include The Wine Country and Bodega Bay Golf, Historic Normandy and the Beautiful Chateaux of France, Sunny Mediterranean Magic, Your Adventures in Argentina, South Pacific Paradise, 4-Star Isle of Capri and African Photo Safari.

ABOUT CANCER CARE CENTERS FOUNDATION

After many years of treating cancer, professionals caring for oncology patients recognized there was a need to help patients and cancer survivors by more than simply treating the disease.

Out of this concern and desire to do more for his patients and their families, Dr. Silas Charles started the Cancer Care Centers Foundation in 1993. (Image for SpaceCoastDaily.com)

There was a strong sense that more could be done to aid patients and their families through the process of treatment and survival. For seldom is the patient the only one undergoing a change.

Often, family, friends and co-workers are affected. Who is helping them through this process? Who is educating them about the disease and teaching them how to cope?

Out of this concern and desire to do more for his patients and their families, Dr. Silas Charles started the Cancer Care Centers Foundation (CCCF) in 1993. Created as a non-profit organization, CCCF began providing comprehensive patient/family support services, community outreach and education.

In 2012 Dr. Silas was honored by Space Coast Medicine & Active Living magazine with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2004, the foundation received Florida Today‘s Volunteer Recognition Award as the Organization of the Year.

CCCF continues today to assist thousands of families in their battle against cancer.
