Officer Maria Fernez of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said  gained entry into Crystal Lake subdivision residence by throwing a brick through the rear sliding glass door.

Fernez said while in the home, the suspect was interrupted by the returning homeowner. When confronted by the resident, the suspect pointed a firearm at her and ran from the area on foot.

According to Fernez, he was last seen by witnesses running north on Interlachen Road.

The female resident did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Fernez described the suspect as a black man with short black hair, wearing all black clothing and carrying an orange backpack.

She said on the same day, a subject matching that description was seen on foot in two other subdivisions in the area.

Since March 20, there have been about eight more daytime burglaries in the Suntree and iera area between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., where entry has primarily been made by breaking the rear sliding glass door, Fernez said.
