The plan, compiled every two to three years, provides information to guide Space Florida in its efforts to modernize and expand infrastructure at the Cape Canaveral Spaceport.

The workshop will take place on Friday, April 26 at the Cape Canaveral Port Authority Chambers and will allow stakeholders to help identify aerospace-related projects that may be considered for funding from the Florida Department of Transportation.

A number of Space Florida’s proposed projects in the 2010 Spaceport Master Plan were selected for $31 million in funding through the FDOT.

Those included the newest SpaceX Integration Facility at Launch Complex 40, transition of the Orbiter Processing Facility for commercial use and heavy lift infrastructure upgrades at the Vehicle Assembly Building.

“It is critical for the public to participate in this discussion, so we can propose the best funding requests to benefit Florida’s aerospace industry,” said Mark Bontrager, Vice President of Spaceport Operations for Space Florida.

The Cape Canaveral Spaceport Master Plan Public Workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 26.

Following the workshop, a Call for Projects will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Both public meetings will be held at the Canaveral Port Authority Chambers at 445 Challenger Road in Port Canaveral.
